Ellie Mae, Inc. Unveils Password Manager For ePASS Users

Top Transaction Portal Now Provides Seamless Password Entry

Pleasanton, CA-May 22, 2002-Ellie Mae Inc., a provider of Internet and software solutions for mortgage originators, announced Password Manager, a new feature in the ePASS® Business Center designed to solve a problem unique to mortgage brokers. Password Manager allows the login name and password for each lender and vendor to be securely saved so that users will not need to memorize and enter them each time they submit an order, check status or use another e-commerce site.

"As the ability to transact with business partners throughout the mortgage industry has grown, so has the burden to input and keep track of numerous distinct user ID's and passwords," said mortgage broker Jim Chubb of Pacific Inland Financial. "Password Manager in ePASS is one of those simple solutions that immediately solves a problem that has, until now, gone ignored."

Password Manager is now a standard feature of Ellie Mae's ePASS Business Center, available to all mortgage brokers. Successfully eliminating the multiple logins users are required to remember is just one of many features Ellie Mae offers in its commitment to streamlining the mortgage process.

"The number of vendors and lenders a broker can work with electronically keeps growing," said Jack Trageser, vice president of Electronic Commerce for Ellie Mae. "Likewise, brokers now find themselves with an expanding and unmanageable collection of separate passwords. Keeping track of these passwords has become a real headache for most brokers. With Password Manager, brokers are relieved of the burden of maintaining lists of separate passwords and spared the time it takes to log in every time they need to exchange information with a vendor or lender."

"Every active Internet user gets frustrated trying to track all their login/password combos," said Scott Cooley, chief strategy officer for Ellie Mae. "In fact, this issue is one of the largest impediments to e-commerce adoption. Our typical customer must access dozens of password-protected sites during their day-to-day business. ePASS helps keep these passwords secured with a master password. This stops the common practice whereby employees write down passwords on paper scraps in and around their desks, and inadvertently create a security risk for their employer."

Ellie Mae currently provides its services to more than 80 percent of all third party originators in the industry. Ellie Mae's expanding technology offerings now include multiple LOSs, the industry's leading transaction platform-ePASS Business Center, customized Websites and password management.
