America's Mortgage Broker Switches to Ellie Mae's Encompass Loan Origination Solution

Brokerage finds great benefit in built-in electronic document management tools

America's Mortgage Broker is a branch organization with over 500 loan originators across the United States. It had been using Point for over eight years prior to making the transition to Encompass.

"We had been pretty loyal to Calyx," explains Mark Collins, CEO of Tampa-based America's Mortgage Broker. "But we elected to go with Encompass essentially for three reasons. First, it was critical to our long-term goals that we got a better handle on loan production and pipeline management than Calyx offered us to do. Second, with over 500 users, it was more cost effective to use the Encompass solution than to continue with Calyx. Lastly, the level of customer support we have received from Encompass led us to believe that we would be better off with Ellie Mae."

Collins explains that the switch to Encompass went smoothly, even though the idea was initially met with resistance. "After the first two training sessions, everyone was so excited," he states. "Encompass added a lot of capabilities that we'd never had access to before."

Among some of the favored features, America's Mortgage Broker greatly appreciated the electronic document tracking solution and contact manager that are built into Encompass, the only loan origination system to include this capability. "The document tracking solution in Encompass is far more elaborate than the one in Point," says Collins. "Users can create rules for when documents should be received based on an order date, and then create alerts to inform the processor and loan officer if something is bottlenecking their files. Letting the system automate control of document tracking eliminates human error so nothing falls through the cracks."

America's Mortgage Broker is also finding it simpler to market to prospects with Encompass, since the program eradicates the need for outside customer relationship management (CRM) software. "Having everything in one software package makes it much easier to do direct mail and email campaigns," Collins adds.

"Encompass automates the process of turning leads into prospects, prospects into clients, and customers into repeat clients," explains Jonathan Corr, chief strategy officer at Ellie Mae.
