The Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001, also known as the USA PATRIOT Act or the Patriot Act, was enacted by the Bush Administration in an effort to combat terrorist activity within the United States. As a result, the Act made several significant amendments to current anti-money laundering laws and greatly broadened the definition of a financial institution.
AllRegs Academy’s Examining the USA Patriot Act self-study online course highlights the amendments that the Act made to customer identification procedures, anti-money laundering laws, financial privacy and credit reporting. Additionally, this course may satisfy the annual requirement for AML training for financial institutions (including for casinos and money service providers). The 60-minute course will also review the history of the Act and how it has impacted the finance industry mainly through changes to the Bank Secrecy Act and money laundering laws, as well as financial privacy and credit reporting. In addition, this course outlines how a compliance program should address USA PATRIOT Act requirements and risk assessment strategies.
